.......Antics at Twinwood!

Over the bank holiday weekend we had some 40s frolics at Twinwood Festival in Bedford. It's a swing and jive festival in honour of Glenn Miller who departed from Twinwood Airfield in his plane and was never seen again. His current status is missing in action as no wreckage or remains were ever found.

We were there for the weekend as our final proper trading weekend as Toadstool Vintage. We had a fantastic time and made over our sales target so a great way to go out with a bang.

Here are a few pictures from the weekend:

Tickets are already on sale for next year so if you fancy a bit of a bop, vintage shopping and the chance to dress up in 40s finery get yourself a ticket!

Above are a couple of pics of me wearing some new purchases courtesy of my fellow stallholder Clare from Second Hand Rose. The dress is a 70s does 40s style floral dress with matching belt and contrasting larger print floral sleeves. It fits lovely and I added a bit of glamour with this fur trim. Unfortunately I didn't get to stay in it for very long as the weather was turning quite chilly and so I reverted back to my ever faithful dungarees, as can be seen in the other photo. In this pic I wrapped up in an orange hand crochet cardigan again courtesy of Second Hand Rose. I love the burnt orange colour and will become a staple part of my ever growing knitwear collection.

Roll on Twinwood 2013!

.......Luscious Lips!

I don't normally get swayed by TV adverts but after seeing the advert for L'Oreal Rouge Caresse lipstick I had to pop to Boots to have a look. I love having coloured lips but always find lipstick a bit of a solid colour and lip gloss is always too sticky. Rouge Caresse is the perfect compromise! It's very smooth and light with a lovely subtle colouring which looks very natural. I have quite a small mouth so often find I need to be careful not to go for too matte a colour as this makes my lips look even smaller.

The colour range available is great and so it was a bit of a challenge to choose which one to buy. In the end I couldn't decide between two shades so ended up buying both (it did help that you got a free Gloss It/Nail It/Wing It kit containing two nail varnishes, lip gloss and a luminous brown eyes eyeliner if you spent £15 or more on L'Oreal products).

I decided on Dating Coral and Aphrodite Scarlet

We're off to Twinwood Festival over the Bank Holiday weekend for a few days of vintage trading, jiving and general mayhem and I think both of these will go perfectly with the 1940s and 1950s outfits I have planned.

Ta ta for now!

.....Wilderness!

Hi there!

So excited to be doing my first post on my new blog all about the best festival I've ever been to!

Last weekend we managed to get tickets to Wilderness Festival which was held in the beautiful Cornbury Park Estate in Oxfordshire. I have to thank Clare at Second Hand Rose for letting us tag along. We had so much fun in the sun!

I had two "firsts" at the festival. Firstly - I got the chance to have a bit of a pamper and had my first ever massage. It was an hour long thai massage whilst lying under a huge oak tree....totally blissful! Secondly - I had my first taste of Magners Pear Cider and it is now one of my favourite drinks. It may have helped that it was a cold drink on a scorching hot day but I loved it all the same!

The Love Tree

Sanctuary - Tarot Reading, Massages, Fortune Telling etc
I've always been intrigued by spiritual fortune telling such as Tarot and Palmistry so I seized the chance to get a Tarot Card reading. I was a little bit apprehensive in case it told me something I didn't want to hear but I was pleasantly surprised. The reading was quite vague and surprisingly accurate so I would definitely be tempted to try it again. I still have a very open mind about it all.

Tom and James - The Eurotrash twins.

Clare and Tom playing with wigs.

Dress up time!

Loving the carved wood alien.

Me being like a schoolgirl meeting Robbie Boyd.

The strange thing about Wilderness is it isn't all about the music so there wasn't a plethora of big well known bands playing. However, I was looking forward to seeing The Robbie Boyd Band. We saw the talented Mr Boyd singing in Portobello market a few years ago and bought two of his albums. The CDs went down a storm when I played them in my shop and I was looking forward to seeing him live with his full band. They didn't disappoint and were amazing! If you've never heard them it's definitely worth a listen.

Temper Trap

I've definitely got festival fever now and found it very hard to get dressed in normal clothes for work on Monday! :)

Later peeps!
